Osaka - Back to Reality Dotonbori Style

I didn't think this through...how did I leave a temple with such profound joy and peace and end up here?

Dotonbori is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in Osaka and I had to visit before I headed back to Kyoto. It just came as a shock to the system after the silence of a Buddhist temple.

This area is known for a wide variety of food, drink, entertainment, gaudy neon lights, extravagant signs and crowds. They say that people in Osaka spend more on food than anything else. There is a term they use "kuidaore", which basically means "eat until you drop." That totally describes a place like this. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

This dragon restaurant is where I had amazing ramen!

The screen above was capturing the scene below. That's me and Berenice in the shot. She did not come to Osaka with me today but we bumped into each other on the street. Crazy right?!

I know you are supposed to stay for the night life when you come to Osaka but I was done for the day. I needed to leave this madness to regain the peace of mind I had gained earlier. I had to find my way back to Osaka Station and then Kyoto (standing room only). Osaka, if I come back to Japan, you will definitely be worth another visit.
